LIBRARY OF A NEW ENGLAND ARCHAEOLOGIST

In the days of Evangeline when French Canadians of Nova Scotia were forced to leave their homes and seek a new life in Quebec and Louisiana, smaller groups came to Massachusetts. Generations later their descendants, most intermarried with the Anglo population, may be found in northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Only their surnames and an interest in the French Canadian past reveal their ancestry.

This small library belonged to an archaeologist from Massachusetts whose interests lie with North American prehistoric archaeology and Colonial (historic) archaeology, history and ethnohistory. Long an educator and mentor to many accomplished students, he pursues a career at a museum and holds a PhD from a major American university.
