The Richard Johnston Library
Richard Johnston, was a lifelong resident of central Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of regional schools and afterward served in Vietnam. His childhood interest in country antiques expanded to include firearms, American Indian artifacts, and related publications. He was an associate of Lycoming County Historical Society & Museum (Williansport, PA), and for several years worked for Hesse Auction Galleries, Otego, NY. Later in life he founded Council Fire Antiquities and staged numerous well-attended, quality auctions and sales at locations throughout Pennsylvania. He is survived by wife, Dee, and two daughters. In consigning his library to SLS Richard Johnston wished to emphasize how much it meant to him to assemble an important, personal library. It became a part of who he was. “These books are truly my friends, and parting with them is a traumatic event in my life. These books are like the old hound dog asleep at your feet, even with the end fast approaching, he is ready to stand-up for you to the death.” “Please care for them, keep them warm and dry, handle them often. They will repay this kindness many times over.” All Richard Johnston Library listings have been SOLD.
New libraries will be added soon! Please bookmark us and visit again, or contact us asking to be notified of any new library listings.
